Description

PFERD offers a wide selection of coated abrasive tools for working on different workpiece geometries and materials. They consist of a base, a base bond and a coating bond for the abrasive grain to adhere to. Depending on the grit size, coated abrasive tools can achieve a high stock removal rate or a very fine surface finish.

The available backing materials differ in properties such as tear strength, flexibility and wear. With the right base, the grinding tool is adapted to the requirements of the intended application: paper is used in the woodworking industry and in trade, e.g. among carpenters, painters and decorators, cloth is predominantly used for metalwork, and vulcanized fibre is highly wear-resistant and is used in various thicknesses predominantly for making fibre discs.

The set contains cylindrical abrasive spiral bands suitable for a selection of different applications, designed for universal use in coarse to fine grinding, as well as an appropriate rubber drum holder.

Advantages
  • The abrasive spiral band is firmly held in place on the rubber drum holder as the holder expands during use.
  • Excellent tool life due to special manufacturing process – even under the most demanding operating conditions.
  • Maximum economic efficiency thanks to particularly high stock removal rate and aggressive abrasive quality.
  • For getting to know and testing the comprehensive range.
  • Coordinated selection of the most common grit sizes.
Recommendations for use
  • To easily change the abrasive spiral bands, give them a slight clockwise twist and pull them up and off. When doing so, leave the rubber drum holder clamped in the tool drive.
  • To ensure the abrasive spiral band is securely attached, adhere to the minimum speed for the rubber drum holder.
  • For the best results, use at a recommended cutting speed of 20-30 m/s.
  • Use grinding oil that is suitable for the material in order to significantly increase the tool life and the abrasive performance of the tools.
Safety notes
  • The maximum permitted peripheral speed is 30 m/s.
  • For safety reasons, the maximum permitted rotational speed indicated must never be exceeded.
  • Do not allow abrasive spiral bands to protrude beyond the rubber drum holder.
